Robot Explorers: Intro to Robotics
Class Meeting Schedule: Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:00

Class Size: 1 to 6 students.

Total Duration: 3 months. Duration depends on the student’s pace and goals, with flexible scheduling.

Group Discount: Bring a friend and both of you will receive a discount. For groups of four or more, each member gets a discount. To receive the discount, select your group size during checkout and include the names of your friend(s). Each student must sign up individually.

  • Groups of 2–3: 5% off

Robots, roll out! Get ready for an introduction to a wide range of robotics. Young engineers in 1st and 2nd grade will get hands-on experience with a variety of kid-friendly robots and learn the basics of robotics while having a blast with all of Blue Ridge Boost's different mechanical buddies! From rolling Sphero balls to solving puzzles with Indi cars, building with LEGO Robotics, and exploring VEX robots, this class is all about exploration, creativity, and discovering how technology works.

No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and excitement to dive into the world of robotics! It’s never too late to join the fun—new engineers are welcome anytime!

With a small class size of only six students, your child will get plenty of personalized attention. As new students join, additional instructors will be added to ensure that everyone receives the help they need to succeed and have fun.


What We’ll Explore:

Meet the Robots!

  • Get to know Sphero, Indi, LEGO Robotics Essentials, VEX robots, and more.
  • Hands-on play and exploration to spark curiosity and confidence.

How Do Robots Work?

  • Understand simple concepts like sensors, movement, and coding.
  • Learn how robots "see" and "think" to complete tasks.

Creative Challenges

  • Program a robot to navigate a maze or follow a path.
  • Design and build obstacles for robots to solve.
  • Work together to complete team challenges.

Building with LEGO Robotics and VEX

  • Learn the basics of building and programming robots with LEGO and VEX.
  • Combine creativity with problem-solving in fun, hands-on projects.

Robotics in Action

  • Explore real-world applications of robotics—where do we see robots in our daily lives?
  • Imagine and design your own robot for the future!
