Campers will explore foundational concepts like structure, power transmission, motion, and mechanisms through engaging activities using REV DUO kits.
Camp Highlights
- Curriculum Overview: Based on the CS-STEM Network Mechanical Foundations with REV DUO course developed by Carnegie Mellon University, participants will:
- Build stable robotic structures and explore concepts like strength, balance, and center of gravity.
- Experiment with power transmission systems, gear ratios, and mechanical advantage.
- Design and construct customized drivetrains to tackle challenges like climbing obstacles.
- Hands-On Projects: Campers will complete exciting projects and challenges, including:
- Building reinforced 3D structures.
- Designing and testing motorized systems for speed and torque.
- Creating obstacle-climbing drivetrains using omni or mecanum wheels.
- Skills Development: Learn to use tools effectively while mastering mechanical concepts critical for robotics.
Certification Opportunities
- All participants will receive a Completion Certificate from Blue Ridge Boost at the end of the camp.
- Campers can also opt to take the CS-STEM Network Student Certification as part of the SMART Robotics Technician Program, endorsed by the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute.
