Robotics Integration with Arduino ShieldBot
Session Length: 5 hours

Join our exciting 2-week robotics camp based on the Robotics Integration with Arduino (ShieldBot) curriculum! This hands-on program is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of robotics, focusing on assembling, programming, and debugging advanced robotic systems. Participants will work with a variety of components, including servo motors, cameras, breadboards, and microprocessors, while learning to navigate real-world robotics challenges.

Camp Highlights:

  • Week 1: Building and Testing the ShieldBot
    • Learn to identify and unpack robotics components.
    • Assemble a robot using mobility, power, and control subsystems.
    • Test drive motors and program open-loop navigation.
    • Perform hardware tests to ensure proper functionality.
    • Debug and refine robot navigation using Arduino.
  • Week 2: Advanced Integration and Vision Systems
    • Integrate a vision-based PixyCam system for advanced navigation.
    • Configure the camera to recognize colors, objects, and shapes.
    • Test and optimize blob data for precise robot movement.
    • Resolve hardware conflicts and implement LED status indicators.
    • Complete the Parking Stall Test Track Challenge!

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how to assemble, test, and debug robotics systems.
  • Explore programming concepts using Arduino.
  • Develop problem-solving skills for hardware and software integration.
  • Gain experience with vision-based navigation using cameras.
