Join us for an engaging two-week summer camp that dives deep into the exciting world of robotics, coding, and computational thinking!
Using the VEX IQ (2nd Generation) platform, campers will explore real-world problem-solving and programming through hands-on, project-based activities. Designed for beginners and intermediate learners, this camp combines creativity, logic, and teamwork to inspire the next generation of coders and innovators.
Camp Highlights
- Curriculum Overview: Based on the highly acclaimed CS-STEM Network Coding and Computational Thinking with VEX IQ course developed by Carnegie Mellon University, campers will follow a structured sequence of lessons covering topics like:
- Behavior-based programming with VEX IQ and VEXcode IQ Blocks.
- Robot movement, digital and analog sensor integration, loops, and decision-making.
- Open-ended challenges like the “Subterranean Challenge” to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-On Learning: Campers will build, program, and control their own VEX IQ robots to complete various challenges.
- Skill Development: Learn to plan, write, and debug code while mastering computational thinking concepts such as decomposition, pattern recognition, and abstraction.
Certification Opportunities
- Every camper will earn a Completion Certificate from Blue Ridge Boost at the end of the program.
- Campers will also have the option to take the CS-STEM Network Student Certification, showcasing their proficiency in robotics and coding concepts.
Additional Information
- Who Should Attend: Open to students in 4th through 7th grade with an interest in robotics, technology, or programming. No prior experience required!
- Duration: Two weeks (Monday–Friday), 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Location: Blue Ridge Boost Summer Camp Facility.
