Science Challenge Hour
Class Meeting Schedule: Sundays 5:00 - 6:00
Class Size: 1 to 8 students. We maintain a 1:4 instructor-to-student ratio.
Total Duration: 4 weeks.
Group Discount: Bring a friend and both of you will receive a discount. For groups of four or more, each member gets a discount. To receive the discount, select your group size during checkout and include the names of your friend(s). Each student must sign up individually.

Unleash your inner scientist every week during the Science Challenge Hour! This hands-on class, taught by Lain, a Blue Ridge Boost educator with a degree in Physics from the University of Virginia, is designed for students who love exploring, building, and solving STEM-based challenges inspired by Science Olympiad Challenges.
Science Challenge students will take on a new science challenge every 4 weeks. Each challenge teaches different scientific concepts so new students can join at any point. Each challenge is crafted to inspire creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with plenty of hands-on fun along the way!
What do students do during Science Challenge Hour?:
- Explore Key Science Disciplines: Explore topics like physics, chemistry, engineering, and natural sciences.
- Solve Real Challenges: Every 4 weeks, tackle a new science challenge, such as designing experiments, building structures, or testing hypotheses.
- Develop Teamwork Skills: Collaborate with classmates to strategize, problem-solve, and compete in friendly challenges.
- Build and Test Models: Create prototypes like bridges, rockets, towers, or vehicles—and refine them for strength, accuracy, and performance.
- Experiment Like a Scientist: Learn how to design experiments, collect data, and draw meaningful conclusions.
