Class Meeting Schedule: Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:30

Class Size: 1 to 8 students. Additional instructors are added when new students join mid-course to help them catch up.

Total Duration: 2-3 months. Duration depends on the student’s pace and goals, with flexible scheduling.

Session Length: 60 minutes

This course is designed to introduce children aged 8–12 to programming and digital creativity using the micro:bit — a small, programmable device that makes learning about technology fun and interactive. Whether your child is a beginner or has some experience with coding, this course provides structured, engaging lessons to help them build practical skills while fostering creativity and problem-solving.


What is the micro:bit?

The micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer designed to make coding accessible and exciting for young learners. It allows children to create interactive projects, from games and digital tools to environmental sensors and smart devices.


Weekly Topics

  • Introduction to the micro:bit – Learn coding basics and how to use the micro:bit.
  • Inputs and Outputs – Explore how the micro:bit interacts with the world through buttons, sensors, and displays.
  • Counting Variables – Understand how the micro:bit stores and updates data.
  • Light and Temperature Sensors – Use the micro:bit to measure light and temperature.
  • Pins and Conductivity – Experiment with wires, pins, and creating circuits.
  • The Starter Challenge – Create a unique micro:bit project using everything learned so far.
  • Magnetism and Logic – Use the micro:bit’s magnetometer (compass) and logic functions.
  • Using Logic – Program the micro:bit to make decisions based on conditions.
  • Creating Sounds – Generate music and sounds with the micro:bit.
  • Recording Data – Collect and analyse real-world data (e.g., movements or environmental conditions).
  • Earthquake Data – Simulate recording earthquake vibrations using sensors.
  • Smart Sustainable Home Challenge – Design and build a digital solution for a sustainable home.
